Google Duo has arrived to the world of Android threatening to all the applications and services of video calling that until now had available. Such has been the impact of the application, that their rivals already are have since to launch replies to this novelty of Google. It is the case of Facebook Messenger, which recently announced Instant Video, a feature that will seek to take the talks a step further.

Combined with video text conversations

It is true that there is nothing like a face-to-face conversation. But it is also true that video calling offer us, for example, the ability to communicate with people who are far away, may be a conversation face to face, or to the being able to see the face of our interlocutor. Clearly, it is not the same, but it is better than nothing. The same applies to text messages, although it must be said that every communication medium has its advantages and disadvantages. For example, text messages can use them even when we can not speak out loud, which is a great advantage, because we can continue to communicate. However, we lose something, and we can see the reaction and the other person’s face when we talk about.

Facebook Messenger

As well, Facebook has found the form of the text talks being enriched. We can see the other person, thanks to the new Instant Video function, but in the case of a text conversation. I.e., to initiate Instant Video, we will begin to send video from your mobile phone, but this will be muted. It won’t bother in any case, and the person with whom we are talking you will see our reaction to what we write, or at least can see us face to face, even when you can not keep a conventional conversation or a video call.

It is a response to Google Duo, although Facebook Messenger was already offering video calling, so it actually is not a direct answer, but just a novelty in the service to try to capture more users, or trying to make users continue choosing Facebook Messenger to talk instead of changing to Google Duo to video calls.

To use this feature, that Yes, the two users will need to have the latest version of Facebook Messenger.
